Welcome, and site news.
A warm welcome to this May edition of "On Shed".. the monthly magazine of "Steam Tube - The Home of Steam on the Net!"
An especial welcome to the 8 new members who signed on in April, bringing our total membership to 1,437.
Steam Tube is a free to join site, and is enjoyed by many as a resource to keep updated on all things (well, nearly all things!!) steam. So we are grateful when the odd fiver or tenner is donated via the Donate button on the Home page. Thank you in advance for your appreciative support.
There is a lot going on in the steam world..what with ongoing builds (Hengist, V499, Claud Hamilton, LMS Patriot, P2, PRR T1, ....
And there is talk of a French build....sorry...an April 1st joke.....but what a prospect that would offer....a Chapelon locomotive!
Still, in the US, 4014 Big Boy is en route to Cheyenne, Wyoming for restoration, which will take between 3 and 5 years, apparently. A prospect to savour!
If you can support any of these projects, visit the relevant website and "donate"....
In the coming months we hope to bring some new partnerships to Steam Tube, and a couple of collaborations with a leading railway writer......
So, please enjoy this collection of articles and notes......

Trip Report - Silver Creek & Stephenson (Steve Mitchell)
I was tickled when Roger Holmes of the Silver Creek & Stephenson Railroad, invited me to the Photo Special held in July, 2011. The photo session was thoughtfully scheduled between the Little River Railroad Birthday Celebration and the Rock Island Train Festival.About the Silver Creek & Stephenson
The Silver Creek & Stephenson Railroad is located in Freeport, Illinois, and operates on the former Milwaukee Road right of way over track that was relaid by volunteer crews. The mission of the not-for-profit organization is to interpret branch line railroad operations once common across the country.Busy Day at Silver Creek & Stephenson Railroad Depot Freeport, IL Yard Goat Images Photo
