Steam Tube extends a warm welcome to this November 2012 edition of "On Shed".
Membership continues to grow.....we now have an A- Z of members...one of our latest members
John Gaydon lists the Zig Zag Railway in Lithgow, Australia as his local steam railway!
Current statistics at 27th October 2012.....1,230 members, 4,723 videos and 24,159 photographs.
As ever, our members provide coverage of the most recent steam activity, be that mainline or heritage lines....Thank you for your prompt uploads! Keep them coming.
Earlier this month Steam Tube was represented at the first international WATTRAIN CONGRESS at the NRM,York. This edition of On Shed gives a brief overview of the event, a few photographs, and some closing summarizing thoughts from Tim Fischer. Future editions will pick up on some of the specifics of the Congress.......Keep watching this space!
The WATTRAIN CONGRESS helped us to forge closer links with international groups and individuals. You will notice that this month we are able, courtesy of Courtney Wilson, to take a look at the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum, and sample one of the excellent films produced for that Museum. Look out in future editions for more films from B & O Railroad Museum TV.
And we shall look forward to being able to see some excellent promotional footage of "La Trochita"- The Train At The End of the World" (Patagonia)....
This edition of On Shed also includes a feature on the Rail Freight Group...On Shed appreciates James Falkners assistance in making this possible.
We hope this will start a trend of On Shed trying to keep abreast of life on the Big Railway(!)

in south east London.
The 19:43 express train was travelling from Hastings to Charing Cross when at 21:16 it crashed off the rails between Hither Green and Grove Park stations near the Southern Region Continental goods depot.
It happened just over a mile from the scene of the Lewisham train crash in 1957 in which 90 people were killed and 175 were injured.
