Welcome, and site news.
Welcome to this October 2014 edition of "On Shed" ..the monthly features magazine for "Steam Tube - The Home of Steam on the Net!"
We are delighted to welcome new members from around the world, and hope that you enjoy what you see, and will consider making photo and video (and blog!) contributions ..in your own time!
Speaking of contributions, we know that some will wonder how the site is financed.....well, mainly through the proprietors (TFC and Shedmaster), with occasional contributions from Google Adwords, and from appreciative members...especially those who link to their own sales sites...a sort of commission for us!!!!
This edition includes progress reports on quite a few new and rebuild projects from around the world.....and these are growing by the day, it would seem. If you are attached to any of these projects, and would like to care for the responsibility of keeping us updated on progress, please let us know...
At the end of this edition are a dozen or so clips from the Huntley Film Archive. Some of the clips are, by their very nature, lacking detailed descriptions .. perhaps you can supply the relevant information..
and an opportunity for readers of "On Shed" to own their own print of Kevin Parrishs "Tornado at Kings Cross station" (in oils).
Original painting size 24in x18in.
Fine art prints available from artist size 16inx12in. endorsed by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.(Trade Mark Licence Agreement)
10% from sale of proceeds to the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.
Price per print...just £35.00
To get your copy, contact Kevin Parrish email:parrish@quicknetuk.com , quoting reference STUBETOR....
So, sit back..and enjoy..........

RSH 0-4-0ST No. 7058 Olwen
Currently under overhaul, 1942 built RSH 0-4-0ST No. 7058 Olwen (owned by the Gwili Railway Preservation Society) is on the Olwen Preservation Groups wish list..... "Olwen was based on the internal railway network at the Central Electricity Generating Boards Earley Power Station. It became Earley No. 1. In 1976. following the decommissioning of the Earley site , being deemed as surplus to requirements following the opening of Didcot "A" ,No. 1 was soon sold to the fledgling Gwili Railway, where it has seen regular service, and has spent many years in Percy livery. It has also masqueraded as cosmetically similar Swansea Harbour Trust shunter No. 1144 in both GWR and BR(W) guises, and has visited other railways in this condition. The expected purchase price is in the region of £45,000.
So, here is an opportunity to get involved in locomotive ownership in some way.. The Group is looking for trustees, membership secretary.. and funds!
Update: 1st September 2014. The Olwen Preservation Group would like to welcome Paul Davis to the Group, His Engineering experience will come in handy, and thank you to everyone who has liked the page... Here
