Im back!  And Im happy to be setting new goals for 2016.  I cant wait to share all the details with you!  I plan to start my year with a no-spend January.  There are a couple of exceptions - food and gas.  Those will not be big expenses, though.  Ill share the details throughout the month along with some of my favorite ways to increase my income (using online sites like Swagbucks, Gifthulk and QuickRewards to name a few).  And Ill let you know exactly how I did on January 31st!

Happy New Year!!

Goals 2012 April Update

Goals 2012 April Update

I set some goals at the beginning of the year and I like to check back in each month to see how Im doing. With April over (how did that happen so fast??!!), its time for an update.  Heres where I stand.

Goals for my blog -

1)  Revamp.  I did that.  Again.  I like the new, simpler header.  And I like playing around with Pixlr.  So, Ill probably change it up from time to time.  Ill show you how I did it soon.
2)  Add new features.  I have.  And I have more coming up.  I have a couple more giveaways this month -  stay tuned.
3)  Introduce new blogs.  I didnt do that in April.  Ill have to share some of my favorites this month.
4)  Host guest bloggers.  None in April.  I would love to host your blog - just send me an email - kmwerynski@gmail.com
5)  Start a linky party.  I will be co-hosting a party really soon.  Ill keep you posted.

Goals for my house -

We have been tackling some small projects around the house.  I still have some posts to write about them.  And we have been able to start on some landscaping projects already.  I hope to start work on my living room soon - its a very boring rectangle that I hope to transform into a beautiful space.  And we hope to tackle our hall bath this summer.  Its the last major room to get a facelift.

Goals for my budget -

Saving has been difficult this month (read proms are expensive).  We are on track but Id like to do better.  In the earning more department, my little blog has started making a tiny amount of money.  Its really not much, but it feels great to be able to help with the bills.  And with two kids in college this fall, Im happy to be able contribute.

As I mentioned in January, I set a goal this year to spend $0 on Christmas.  How?  Well, Im earning Amazon gift cards through Swagbucks.  I have been using Swagbucks for years (long before I had a blog) and I love them.  I wanted to introduce my readers to their program so I searched out their affiliate program a few months ago and signed up.  As of right now, I have $120 saved.  I will get $25 more this month.  I hope to have about $400 in gift cards and Paypal cash by the end of the year.  Craig also has an account and has about $60.  I have received some emails about the program so I will do a more in depth post about how I have earned through Swagbucks.  If youre interested, you can click on the ad on my sidebar to sign up.  Its free money!

Also last month, I signed up at Sneakpeeq - its a social shopping site.  Just for signing up, I received a $10 credit (which I havent used yet) and a free gift.  The gift at the time was a pearl ring -

I receive it a couple of days ago and I have to admit - its super cute.  So, this will be put aside for Christmas.  My daughter will love it.  I placed the Sneakpeeq ad on my sidebar if any of you want to sign up.  Currently, the free gift is a bracelet.  Yay for free stuff!

I also received my first (of the year) American Eagle $25 gift card through e-rewards.

I have no affiliation with e-rewards but Ive been using their survey site for a few years.  I usually earn 2-3 of these cards in a year.  Not bad.  It all helps!

Im still trying to find new ways to make this Christmas free - free of stress and debt!  It is such a wonderful time of the year and I want to enjoy it!

Goals for my life -

1)  Eat better.  Ive been trying.  But I still like snacking.  And eating bacon...Well, this topic really deserves its own post.
2)  Be more confident.  Still working on this.  I did write about how shyness affects me.  Putting it all out there was a little scary but everyone was very supportive.  Thank you.
3)  Stick to my schedule.  Nope.  Complete fail.  Im going to start on this today.
4)  Start a small garden.  Yay - so far, so good -

My little tomato plants are growing!  Im getting ready to move them outside soon - Ill keep you updated.
5)  Get more organized.  Ive been working on that the last couple of weeks.  Ive cleaned out the pantry, my dresser and closet and most of the basement.  Ive also worked on some kitchen cabinet clutter.  Still much more to go through but its a start.

Ok theres the update.  Some success.  Some things that still need to get done.  So with that - I think I need to get to work!

Have a great Thursday!

Goals 2012 Updated

Goals 2012 Updated

How can it be March already?  I mean really - this year is flying!  So, its time to see how Im doing on my goals for 2012.  Lets check out the progress (and in some cases, the lack there of...).

Goals For My Blog -

1.  Revamp.  Ive been pretty successful in getting this done.  I still have a couple more tweaks left but most of the work is done.  Ive changed my header, sidebar, and all of my pages - making them neater and easier to navigate.  Ive also added a button and a favicon.  Ive shared a few tutorials (and I plan to share a few more) to help other bloggers.  So far, so good.

2.  Add new features.  Ive done this too.  Ive discussed how I save money, new websites that Ive found (and love...Polyvore...), and recipes that Ive tried. Ive also shared tips on cleaning and organization.

3.  Introduce new blogs.  Ive done this too.  I shared a list of my favorite larger blogs a couple of weeks ago and Im putting together a list of my favorite smaller blogs now.  Ill put that out soon.  Ive also added an opportunity for free ad space on my sidebar with a button swap.  Check out my blog friends when you get a chance.

4.  Host guest bloggers - Ive been able to participate in a couple of blog swaps.  I love introducing my readers to new bloggers.  And I hope to continue with this.  If youd like to do a guest post, send me an email - kmwerynski@gmail.com.

5.  Start a link party.  Well, I didnt start a party, but I was fortunate enough to co-host a party!  And I really enjoyed it.  I looked at every project - and learned so much.  There are some very talented ladies out there!

Goals For My House -

Let me sum up the remodeling progress - I havent done enough.  I am thisclose to finishing 2 rooms.  Yay!  And they will be done this week.  Ill feel so much better when they are done.  Its amazing how a couple of small details can prevent a room from being done.  And how long it can take to tackle those small details.  But, I cant wait to share my master bath and foyer.  Finally.  Heres the hold ups -

Two doors that are primed but not painted in the foyer.  (which isnt too bad considering there were seven doors to paint in total.).  These two doors were replacements for older six-panel doors that had been cut in half (vertically) to make some sort of folding door.  They had to go.  The new doors will be painted this week.

A little drywall repair.  We added two sconces to the master bathroom but had a difficult time finding the wires behind the newer drywall.  We called on the help of our electrician and friend to locate the wires - this turned out to be much trickier than I thought it would be.  But, again, this should be cleaned up this week.  Then I can share our master bathroom.  Want a sneak peek?

Theres a little corner of our shower...  Ill share a whole lot more (it was a huge undertaking!) soon.

As for the rest of our house goals, we want to finish these two rooms before moving on.  And we have some plans for the living and laundry rooms next.  And Im hoping we can get some work done outside soon too.

I still have a lot left on my list, but were getting closer!

Goals For My Budget -

Ive been doing well on my budget goals this year.  The whole family is watching the spending.  It really helps to get everyone on board.  And as we try to spend less, Ive also been trying to earn more.  In an effort to earn more, I contacted a local store in hopes of selling my art and painted furniture.  They are interested - and I am happy!  Its a great opportunity for me and Im excited to get started!

One of my other budget goals this year was to enjoy a free Christmas.  I love Christmas, but I always get anxious about spending so much money.  I figured with some planning early on, I could find ways to spend nothing in December.  How am I planning on accomplishing this?  Get free stuff.  The best way for me to get stuff for free is using Swagbucks.  You can find the link on my sidebar (in full disclosure, I receive a small compensation if you join from that link).  I have been a member of Swagbucks for a few years (way before I had a blog) and Ive loved it.  So when I started my blog, I searched them out.  I love telling people about them.  I mean, its free money.  In case you arent familiar with Swagbucks, its primarily a search engine.  You can earn swagbucks for searching the internet each day.  Then, you can cash them in for gift cards (or merchandise).  I cash them in for Amazon gift cards. (450 swagbucks = $5 Amazon GC).  Right now, I have $70 in Amazon gift cards and another $10 waiting for approval.  My husband is also a member and he has $30 in his account.  Hopefully, by the end of the year, we will have about $400 to spend - and its all going towards Christmas presents.  Its going to help a lot!  A little planning goes a long way.

I have a few other sources for making a debt free holiday - like online survey sites (I like erewards - although I have no affiliation with them.  For every $45 in rewards earnings, you can cash it in for a $25 American Eagle gift card.  I usually get a few of those a year.).  And Im saving all of my loose change (I have cashed in $31 at coinstar - no affiliation - for an Old Navy gift card).  Oh, and I get a lot of free stuff at Walgreens, Rite-Aid, CVS, JCPenney, Kohls and Victorias Secret (just regular underwear - lets not get crazy).  Im saving all of that stuff for the holiday too.

Goals For My Life -

So, how am I doing on my life goals?  I give myself a B.  I have been trying to eat better.  But I havent been perfect.  I can still improve on this one.  Luckily, my husband, Craig, also wants to improve here (actually, he does pretty well on this).  It is so much easier when you have someone to work with!

I started exercising a couple of weeks ago.  And a little background here - I used to exercise a lot.  I ran about 8 miles a day, 5 days a week.  And I loved it.  As I got older, I did slow down a little.  And then, two years ago, I herniated a disc in my back.  I was unable to do anything.  Recovery has been long and slow.  And Ive had many set backs.  But I really missed exercising - and how I felt afterwards.  So, I started up again.  But pushed a little too much - and paid the price.  I had to stop after a few days so I could heal.  I understand that I can no longer do the things that I used to.  Im working towards a new goal.  I plan to do a lot of walking (which I have always loved too).  And Ive been searching the internet for exercises that are more appropriate for my limitations.  Its a little frustrating, but Im learning to accept it.

And my other goals?  I want to be more confident, more organized, and more efficient.  Im going in the right direction but I have a long way to go.  It seems like I have been super busy lately and I havent made these goals a priority.  I need to start focusing on them (after all, my April update will be here before you know it!).

So, overall, Im pleased.  I havent accomplished everything Ive set out to do this year - but we are only two months in.  Ive got time!

Goals 2012 March

Goals 2012 March

Its time to look at how I did on my goals for 2012 in the month of March.  And Im not sure I made much progress during the month.  It was very busy around here and I did have to travel a bit.  But, I want to take a look - to help me get back on track.

Goals for my blog -

1. Revamp. Well I did a lot of this at the beginning of the year.  But Im a little bored and its spring, so Ill probably change it up again soon.  Its kind of fun.

2.  Add new features. I have been working in more content - talking about saving money, things Ive pinned, and branching out on Twitter (which I still dont completely understand).

3.  Introduce new blogs.  Ive done this - I shared my favorite money saving websites.

4.  Host guest bloggers.  Nope - fail.  I would love to host guest bloggers more often - and I know my readers love to meet new people too.  If you would like to do a guest post here, please send me an email - kmwerynski@gmail.com

5.  Start a Link party.  I havent started one but I may get to co-host another party soon.  These are a lot of fun!

Goals for my house -

I have been able to do a few projects around here.  I finished my master bath (yay!) along with a few other projects that I havent shared yet.  Considering how busy the month was, Im pretty pleased with the progress around here.

Goals for my budget -

1. Save more.  Ugh.  This didnt go as well as I had hoped.  We were hit with a few expenses that couldnt be put off - prom tickets, prom dress, travel (for my daughters hockey), and school deposit.  Nothing very frivolous - but it made it difficult to save.  We worked hard to keep costs low (we used our credit card points to get free hotel rooms and made meals in the room instead of going out to eat - as much as we could), but it still wasnt a great month for saving.

2. Earn more.  Again, not great.  Im thinking I might have a garage sale - but its too early for that here.  I did have a great month on Swagbucks.  I earned $25 in Amazon Gift Cards (for searching the web and watching videos).  Of course, thats going towards my Christmas fund (I have $95 to date with another $20 pending. I have received some emails about how Swagucks works so Ill write another post about it next week.  Its a great way to earn a little extra cash - Ive been doing it for years - long before I started this blog - and I love introducing people to their site.  You can find their link on my sidebar if your interested.  And if you sign up, I do get a small commission.  It will go straight to my Christmas fund - so thank you!)

3.  Sell stuff on Craigslist.  I didnt take the time to list anything this month because I knew my schedule would be a little crazy.  Maybe April will be a little bit more successful.

Goals for my life -

1.  Eat better.  Im trying.  But I didnt do well when I was traveling.  Time to get back on track.

2.  Be more confident.  I started a Motivation board on Pinterest.  Im hoping it helps.

3.  Stick to my schedule.  Nope.  But this month will be better - and less chaotic.

4.  Start a small garden.  I did some research - so Im ready to start.  I will probably get started this month with some seeds inside.  Im excited to try this - and a little nervous.  Fingers crossed.

5.  Get more organized.  I had good days and bad days.  I havent made it a priority - and I should.

So thats my March run-down.  I love checking in every month.  Its a great way to see how Im doing - where Ive succeeded and where I need to improve.  And since were already five days into April, I have my work cut out for me...
